One minute we're gearing up for Christmas and before I know it Easter half term has arrived and the kids are at home.</p><p>Since January I've been busy with different crafting projects. One thing I wanted to make myself was a book cover for a notebook that I could use for all my craft projects and ideas. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2qqDQ-anrOEe2qzhp5CFnQ2t9wL3eF8UXGI76uKIfxNUqQa5qsBBPwa1kQg75TKzSvXqsu5AtjZzkfjvsGG3EIsqXjOwdLyS5m7VVOJoC-7dCG8tQ8VXYxnwjoIpduebKF4iJByUD8QPwxbrXWypOvxJE4pjhiL38n-IwNfW8papwK2c29u1_KZjq/s4032/20220305_113448.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2qqDQ-anrOEe2qzhp5CFnQ2t9wL3eF8UXGI76uKIfxNUqQa5qsBBPwa1kQg75TKzSvXqsu5AtjZzkfjvsGG3EIsqXjOwdLyS5m7VVOJoC-7dCG8tQ8VXYxnwjoIpduebKF4iJByUD8QPwxbrXWypOvxJE4pjhiL38n-IwNfW8papwK2c29u1_KZjq/w300-h400/20220305_113448.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My husband bought me the Charles Dickens kit from Bothy Threads for Christmas so I couldn't resist starting that on New Years. It didn't take me long to do at all in the long winter evenings. I had so much fun stitching this even if I had to use the aida that came in the kit as none of my favourite fabrics were the right size (I couldn't be bothered to wait for some to arrive as I wanted to start it straight away!)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhSis1F6uL_MXmL9tisQf618Y7KZ9vsGgztkjDkZJ7lW3UNXC2J8k1Nj2fM4thTLcSXqEp40s5zGZTErmJvEgsusQ9R8EoisH25f9Fg7N_wRvpXwJ2a9avJwk7z8eayzmqjW2qEEK6pDCqyhhGS47RQar7RccLmg2xfe18-hSQtamtEgY21UI9TMlK/s3470/20220218_192255.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3470" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhSis1F6uL_MXmL9tisQf618Y7KZ9vsGgztkjDkZJ7lW3UNXC2J8k1Nj2fM4thTLcSXqEp40s5zGZTErmJvEgsusQ9R8EoisH25f9Fg7N_wRvpXwJ2a9avJwk7z8eayzmqjW2qEEK6pDCqyhhGS47RQar7RccLmg2xfe18-hSQtamtEgY21UI9TMlK/w558-h640/20220218_192255.jpg" width="558" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I also took part in an online workshop with Ellie Hipkin who is an amazing textile mixed media artist. After my husband bought me a subscription to The Patchwork and Quilting Club run by Little Miss Sewnsew christmas 2020 I've been working hard every month on putting quilt blocks together. Unfortunately the first box didn't arrive until April 2021 due to various problems but it's been an amazing year of quilting. Every box has been like getting a christmas present every month with fabulous fabrics from Lewis and Irene. Inside the box apart from the fabrics were a little treat and the instructions for that months block, giving us a choice of 3 versions. Most months I did at least 2 versions and some 3 which meant by the end of the 12 months I had loads of blocks. You could either made a big quilt with 20 blocks or a standard size with 12. As I'd got so many I made both!! So husband and I have a summer quilt for our bed and our daughter has her own, she even picked the sashing and cornerstones for her quilt. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXCnE_Lj7-0a8KeuQ5G2ZY7Ps0CTo49nQBoFivXXKVxOkb4zXQFh92aQSGuQaQZU7YZlXJBam97BzsuCMvunmQtpyF7dK6vBVzEeH8A7a4_XAaRd4KCelpg6M-mIdQ3gUkS-UVdprzHpGqpiNp9rXVRph4CsMBzsTrlsm5fpR01dj4FFOgwcngoEH0/s1421/FB_IMG_1648981931838.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1421" data-original-width="1080" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXCnE_Lj7-0a8KeuQ5G2ZY7Ps0CTo49nQBoFivXXKVxOkb4zXQFh92aQSGuQaQZU7YZlXJBam97BzsuCMvunmQtpyF7dK6vBVzEeH8A7a4_XAaRd4KCelpg6M-mIdQ3gUkS-UVdprzHpGqpiNp9rXVRph4CsMBzsTrlsm5fpR01dj4FFOgwcngoEH0/w486-h640/FB_IMG_1648981931838.jpg" width="486" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Our big quilt which fits a king size bed.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_UtvBVnhFEs90TXdt2Vs_P59nkuwCruAcmrfOeLvp2XUnCtlKml8md4tBFbkAUNYMskHgT8GKh_uzPhpJm8Xzv7t10nYWvLEZ62mxS-qXeiGEPBnbixwDwjqimbwW_L2ynx8iLEUVkKrwhzdYhjv0rLLC7jiGSeCbCLMoYYofob5fYQyYFrBVrFED/s1375/FB_IMG_1648981921115.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1375" data-original-width="1080" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_UtvBVnhFEs90TXdt2Vs_P59nkuwCruAcmrfOeLvp2XUnCtlKml8md4tBFbkAUNYMskHgT8GKh_uzPhpJm8Xzv7t10nYWvLEZ62mxS-qXeiGEPBnbixwDwjqimbwW_L2ynx8iLEUVkKrwhzdYhjv0rLLC7jiGSeCbCLMoYYofob5fYQyYFrBVrFED/w502-h640/FB_IMG_1648981921115.jpg" width="502" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Daughters quilt with colour scheme picked by her.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I haven't forgotten my crochet or knitting either. She picked the pattern and yarn and had them delivered to me so that by next winter she's got a lovely warm cardigan. On the crochet front I've not done much since I finished the Festive Blanket by Coastal Crochet, however Eleanora has designed another blanket called Postcards with Love which is a CAL being run by King Cole. It starts in May which gives me plenty of time to get the wool. I've enjoyed it though, some weeks I've done the Beyond Tast stitches as I've loved the look of them and others just the basic one due to other commitments. Next year for the first time since 2012 when I started doing the TAST challenges I'm going to have a break and try something new.</p><p>I'm going to put 2021 in the centre and give it a wash to get rid of the guiding lines but here are some pictures of my TAST pie. </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgUwmkx9ZtbeFUGzshol7ppMGW-noq2FtTuedktdjkuGYCcRO8M3VXaNdIUof3cj-Vz4vIvxrwoXxWQ2FQt9nwRrm7fXeEIsB1wyPY-sBw1Ri2xctED-ivQjTSA-1U_27cglkBK70EN5OmI5PgALcazIUr1jsX1jGKhNJUn6Qv9aw5Z_CUq36EEmDno=s2706" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2706" data-original-width="2499" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgUwmkx9ZtbeFUGzshol7ppMGW-noq2FtTuedktdjkuGYCcRO8M3VXaNdIUof3cj-Vz4vIvxrwoXxWQ2FQt9nwRrm7fXeEIsB1wyPY-sBw1Ri2xctED-ivQjTSA-1U_27cglkBK70EN5OmI5PgALcazIUr1jsX1jGKhNJUn6Qv9aw5Z_CUq36EEmDno=w592-h640" width="592" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">TAST 2021</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEinDhYfaJpSZ0Jp1H4gh52o66LYtj5e7td2YrghJupEL4Ng0j4AbkgTz6NPklQVsk_CswrIdTIAvd_c3sITDTAoc7LmUzDmZ7nlOFRPomqiRx6eXZb2POXXHrQ-1CIwwFFCuQ32R6-Vk8b-R7KTzqUAiXeVaJyVoAttPAf83FR-tDYKpOmb5tLaH8Zr=s2047" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2047" data-original-width="2047" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEinDhYfaJpSZ0Jp1H4gh52o66LYtj5e7td2YrghJupEL4Ng0j4AbkgTz6NPklQVsk_CswrIdTIAvd_c3sITDTAoc7LmUzDmZ7nlOFRPomqiRx6eXZb2POXXHrQ-1CIwwFFCuQ32R6-Vk8b-R7KTzqUAiXeVaJyVoAttPAf83FR-tDYKpOmb5tLaH8Zr=w640-h640" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgc8wyvk_h5yuIEy6uyY4ixQjxahGxwfAG39e7z_djUTW12u25IxSG121zvgYzu_2GE4U2NmTSV4LoEEazkJuDLOC_FtMbY8s0Pcoq5Kk0b6aoCPq4PaE0K0fivMAbWRCzk7Nghx7A6qXXXyycHEH0U9kq-DM1_pHW0GWGEeBV9f6WXKd7WCkwpdh2f=s2047" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2047" data-original-width="2047" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgc8wyvk_h5yuIEy6uyY4ixQjxahGxwfAG39e7z_djUTW12u25IxSG121zvgYzu_2GE4U2NmTSV4LoEEazkJuDLOC_FtMbY8s0Pcoq5Kk0b6aoCPq4PaE0K0fivMAbWRCzk7Nghx7A6qXXXyycHEH0U9kq-DM1_pHW0GWGEeBV9f6WXKd7WCkwpdh2f=w640-h640" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01935354231041988571noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3994319713876415779.post-35597039880353007602021-04-01T09:39:00.003+01:002021-04-01T09:39:50.772+01:00March TAST <p> Take a Stitch Tuesday this month has some well known stitches in it. I've used some of them over the years as border stitches and over joins on crazy quilting.</p><p>The weather in March has been very unusual. We started off the month with dreary skies and heavy winds before it suddenly changed to wonderful blue skies, the sun shining and the flowers starting to pop through the ground. Yesterday on the last day in March we even hit 21° it felt absolutely wonderful...of course today being the 1st April and a bank holiday weekend here in the UK we're back to grey skies and drizzle 🙄</p><p>So here is my slice of pie for March....</p><p>Week 9 - Couching</p><p>Week 10 - Chevron Stitch</p><p>Week 11 - French Knots</p><p>Week 12 - Cretan Stitch</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS4hyFYaH5F-iw1ELvjSEHuR5QRM7TKz_pgpkUP1-2Xq_IUOBaGw4gzJh1JNtXoCqEe6YXATuFLme9Dm83ZqiEQeaMx2w3c3ACvub16J176mMjH5EK8JelnFdApQZDiht_e61VSL6_bPc/s2048/MARCH+TAST.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1362" data-original-width="2048" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS4hyFYaH5F-iw1ELvjSEHuR5QRM7TKz_pgpkUP1-2Xq_IUOBaGw4gzJh1JNtXoCqEe6YXATuFLme9Dm83ZqiEQeaMx2w3c3ACvub16J176mMjH5EK8JelnFdApQZDiht_e61VSL6_bPc/w640-h426/MARCH+TAST.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /><br /></p>Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01935354231041988571noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3994319713876415779.post-67045055323408619872021-04-01T08:53:00.000+01:002021-04-01T08:53:29.627+01:00Meadow Blanket - The End<p> Can you believe we're at the end of the crochet along? This colours were all the beautiful muted pastels that I have totally fell in love with for the last few weeks. I'm making a note of the colours of my favourites so that I can buy them again for something else...although the scraps from this blanket will go towards my <a href="https://www.boosmummy.com/2020/08/stashbuster-spice-of-life-blanket.html" target="_blank">Stashbuster</a>. </p><p><br /></p><p>The end of <a href="https://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2021/02/meadow-blanket-cal-part-6.html" target="_blank">Part 6 </a>and my blanket has all the stripes done.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSMNpccoR901st1H-HqAZbKASCHVn6LvsX2olr-7QqWA9SppgfKPxQIu9TVD2I9iAZ59kN6j5M9W2TL3qGyYEQSx5ot7JeKamsCpXV07TGeFreRYiXARJLBzJVywKdzFBiJd5DjBXhoyw/s2048/IMG_20210214_204405_257.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSMNpccoR901st1H-HqAZbKASCHVn6LvsX2olr-7QqWA9SppgfKPxQIu9TVD2I9iAZ59kN6j5M9W2TL3qGyYEQSx5ot7JeKamsCpXV07TGeFreRYiXARJLBzJVywKdzFBiJd5DjBXhoyw/w640-h640/IMG_20210214_204405_257.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p><p>Next was <a href="https://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2021/02/meadow-blanket-cal-part-7.html" target="_blank">Part 7 - the borde</a>r, this usually takes me ages to do but as I was on a deadline I made a concerted effort to not pick up anything else until it was done. Feather Stitch and Herringbone. The herringbone I've used a lot over the years in things like leaves, it just fits so well into the shapes and contours. Feather stitch is great for crazy quilting, it goes over the 2 pieces of fabric amazingly and also looks wonderful as greenery in scenic pieces or as seaweed, sea grass in ocean projects.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCOtY-hWGc9EanEOiWXdrJG1L1dko1HjU7CcPwsuSYcnXnPSeOfJitDgn9UXfdSzmI04unBU-EVmsROOWTYgGlfV0dqexYf6uUEmAJW6aIcbYMVnNArn8xXU-oHL371uyXdjubVCUAcdI/s2048/20210323_122013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1190" data-original-width="2048" height="372" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCOtY-hWGc9EanEOiWXdrJG1L1dko1HjU7CcPwsuSYcnXnPSeOfJitDgn9UXfdSzmI04unBU-EVmsROOWTYgGlfV0dqexYf6uUEmAJW6aIcbYMVnNArn8xXU-oHL371uyXdjubVCUAcdI/w640-h372/20210323_122013.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>However the weather for February has definitely been either very wet or snow and ice. To put that into my TAST I wanted colours that represented the mud, the snow, the wet fields and paths that I've trodden as I take my allowed daily walk whilst in lockdown.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNKre0-uuYop0t7l2AuIAn9LsLAJw-vaYLVa12DPM9vyaIwS5-LFoB-Y4lIupWlQKfsMDCVOyXmjR6Z4aAX0bU0VwYLnIUkQ3g6GQ_zkVo1htkAh0wa7LrJtPWAqdbAfsbf7sHfR7r7q4/s2048/mum-3.jpg" style="display: inline; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNKre0-uuYop0t7l2AuIAn9LsLAJw-vaYLVa12DPM9vyaIwS5-LFoB-Y4lIupWlQKfsMDCVOyXmjR6Z4aAX0bU0VwYLnIUkQ3g6GQ_zkVo1htkAh0wa7LrJtPWAqdbAfsbf7sHfR7r7q4/w320-h213/mum-3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p>After coming home one morning and taking off my very muddy wellington boots I dug out my threads. Seeing the tracks from the tractor and peoples footprints in the very muddy field had given me an idea for the Feather Stitch. I decided that I had to have a representation of that for this month. I didn't want the row to look even and exact so made sure the 'feathers' had different size gaps in them and then in those gaps with the same thread I put bullion knots. Some I did small and neat but others i tried to get them a bit longer and messier. It's still a bit too even for what I originally saw in my minds eye but it definitely represents to me our muddy tracks. <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKsZGByLJ1iiDLmaD28YWtfOZdM0jf7milPOoKO88Zw5ImVtYIffYPLY36fbYhhJWTfa3r0iQc4O3-XSwnEStNnvQcoOWvsDJxnE234nRwjD6-fkHRkqOveEqK1uyyq0waG64cauvjYTA/s2048/mum-17.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKsZGByLJ1iiDLmaD28YWtfOZdM0jf7milPOoKO88Zw5ImVtYIffYPLY36fbYhhJWTfa3r0iQc4O3-XSwnEStNnvQcoOWvsDJxnE234nRwjD6-fkHRkqOveEqK1uyyq0waG64cauvjYTA/s320/mum-17.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>For the Herringbone I wanted to go for the Raised Closed Herringbone rather than the straight version. This way I could do some of the leaves that I saw around the woods. They were all dark, soggy and not in their original beautiful shapes. I wanted the look of imperfect winter leaves and this stitch is easy to do that with, I used a variegated thread this time to represent the different coloured leaves I saw. <div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1365" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYRS8Ut8_n93xePcbrZc81rmrhHjw4bSOOjSgUyda6EOIJeVuCyURLWukrO6v9sL8igDRyxBfHKsWezs5qYo0OA7mtdfCynbLR8D2Es7GpnTYjvseL9ceMFplmcNd2q8p8HRC-vXxgjjQ/s320/mum-15.jpg" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For running stitch I used a boot print that I came across, it was so clear in the mud. I also did one across the top of the segment and put white beads in to represent the snow we had in February. I also used the lazy daisy week to make a little snowflake. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOJDB9fEaYwkTwYnAQT5LYjJPlYl2hOMziC4iTfiP73znuPoFzpeka-O2ZYz2tJFY1LsdcpPf9eThTo1RXX9eMcDLi6I3vyWo8rna6PAjI_8-KPzhSIzOcpUYvGgluXKtq0K5jVjDHoXY/s960/feb+tast.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOJDB9fEaYwkTwYnAQT5LYjJPlYl2hOMziC4iTfiP73znuPoFzpeka-O2ZYz2tJFY1LsdcpPf9eThTo1RXX9eMcDLi6I3vyWo8rna6PAjI_8-KPzhSIzOcpUYvGgluXKtq0K5jVjDHoXY/w400-h300/feb+tast.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1365" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhns87oKsC0DDgtXvTLCDTw-5VCbDqWx5JplvUt9T1vtApGAFsK5V_NX-slooVMsniI3pZbZmZ8yX4p7q6OOdppKjpQi3fvvEBetEctnY0av8TPgfvIg8-Co8YDRd5j0x_wq7O4Tq682Xs/s320/mum-14.jpg" /> </div><div><br /></div>To join in head over to <a href="https://pintangle.com/category/challenges/take-a-stitch-tuesday/" target="_blank">Pintangle</a> where you can find previous TAST challenges or join in this years.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><p></p></div>Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01935354231041988571noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3994319713876415779.post-91636211558276226442021-02-10T20:33:00.003+00:002021-02-11T07:38:35.774+00:00January TAST<p> Another year means another Take a Stitch Tuesday which is run by Sharon Boggon over at Pintangle. I'll admit here and now that last year my TAST totally fell apart, with everything that went on from March I just didn't have the time or the incentive. Having 3 teenagers suddenly doing schoolwork from home and then a husband being furloughed and being off work for weeks wasn't exactly helpful for relaxing needlecraft!</p><p>This year I thought I'd do something different, I wanted something that wasn't exactly a picture as I've done previously but something that I could just do a few stitches each week and it would be a journey through the year. In the crochet world people have been doing a lot of temperature blankets and I thought something similar but on a much much smaller scale would be just the thing.</p><p>I decided that each month would be done in colours relating to the weather here in Yorkshire during that month. January has been easy as it's been chilly, grey, rainy but with the odd bit of lovely sun shining on green grass. I put some tiny clear beads around my cloud and in the linked chain stitch for the rain we've had.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYjBWeGxF-80s6av04nnfn7dBnKvhNbohmkUpn5Z3f55bKvaL05txRDG8Zs9TvmcVE5s901zDEhNxyWDibYNCSFCfhd5s3ImbiPmgsz-Jf4lhVWVfEKMLn0P4sL_TeWojTg47BYbMrYB0/s1986/20210210_183346.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1045" data-original-width="1986" height="168" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYjBWeGxF-80s6av04nnfn7dBnKvhNbohmkUpn5Z3f55bKvaL05txRDG8Zs9TvmcVE5s901zDEhNxyWDibYNCSFCfhd5s3ImbiPmgsz-Jf4lhVWVfEKMLn0P4sL_TeWojTg47BYbMrYB0/w320-h168/20210210_183346.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>So here are January's stitches....</p><p><span style="color: #0b5394;">Week 1</span> was Chain stitch with the beyond TAST being Linked Chain stitch. </p><p><span style="color: #0b5394;">Week 2 </span>was Fly stitch and the beyond TAST was Italian Border stitch</p><p><span style="color: #0b5394;">Week 3 </span>was Buttonhole stitch and the beyond TAST was Reversed Buttonhole bar</p><p><span style="color: #0b5394;">Week 4</span> was Stem stitch and the beyond TAST was Portuguese Stem stitch<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9vtPbTWGyKlNiaMfD53C7ARJ7L2sbHJA0zVZSz6tmHBpc8rSBhavTR0E9v_E7Bz1r_bp_sC_ssv7w-vFyhqMp9wA8uCd1bP6avldqg5uP4n9gzibSZ0lNdufWotySyuQF0Ophemsw0ww/s1123/tast+jan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1123" data-original-width="794" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9vtPbTWGyKlNiaMfD53C7ARJ7L2sbHJA0zVZSz6tmHBpc8rSBhavTR0E9v_E7Bz1r_bp_sC_ssv7w-vFyhqMp9wA8uCd1bP6avldqg5uP4n9gzibSZ0lNdufWotySyuQF0Ophemsw0ww/s16000/tast+jan.jpg" /></a></p><br /><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01935354231041988571noreply@blogger.com1United Kingdom55.378051 -3.43597327.067817163821154 -38.592223 83.688284836178838 31.720277tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3994319713876415779.post-7248878663536867552021-02-10T20:00:00.002+00:002021-02-10T20:12:40.143+00:00Meadow Blanket<p><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: medium;"> Lucy over at<a href="https://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/" target="_blank"> Attic24</a> announced at the end of 2020 that she had a new crochet-a-long starting in January...how could I resist? </span></p><p><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: medium;">I ordered the pack from <a href="https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/" target="_blank">Wool Warehouse</a> quick before they ran out of stock, Lucy has called this blanket Meadow and the colours are wonderful. Again Lucy's instructions are well written and have illustrations so don't be put off.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div></div>Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01935354231041988571noreply@blogger.com0United Kingdom55.378051 -3.43597327.067817163821154 -38.592223 83.688284836178838 31.720277tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3994319713876415779.post-6333870766827662352020-08-05T07:09:00.003+01:002020-08-05T07:16:58.820+01:00Lockdown BlanketsThe kids finished school and the country is in lockdown so I thought it's a good time to crochet another blanket ready for winter.<div><br /></div><div>I've used the Dune colour pack from <a href="https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/attic24/attic24-dune-blanket-stylecraft-special-dk" target="_blank">Wool Warehouse</a> (it's Stylecraft Special DK) and the Moorland Stripe blanket pattern from Lucy at <a href="https://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/moorland-stripe-blanket.html" target="_blank">Attic 24</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizooolTetPRmRAR29FoaFEhzQNb0lL5JNgLrivzgnVBgxWW_kCPAfIPnNKKuv5JglCTyEfOGTuWfTOpKBC6EPPH0r7Y7i6XR44RMqQQa3V6oxZgFas6fpEfB17svM-a2m5ktiEaWim6Qk/s2048/20200511_165451.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizooolTetPRmRAR29FoaFEhzQNb0lL5JNgLrivzgnVBgxWW_kCPAfIPnNKKuv5JglCTyEfOGTuWfTOpKBC6EPPH0r7Y7i6XR44RMqQQa3V6oxZgFas6fpEfB17svM-a2m5ktiEaWim6Qk/s640/20200511_165451.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">One blanket all completed, when you're stuck in the house for weeks it's great to see something good come out of it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioOABlzhiHBvtfeGNH1mTOicxEfs76DwuINbUCxkTr3TMHNabRWrx-yfKytu4WOjS1ziBK8Nyh1L5YkQNhC3M7zoR77wgyNMo1ZNwK-loZ8yf1laArPYE8d3XxXUDT3aqaaNCrlBvmuBY/s6000/DSC_1131.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="6000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioOABlzhiHBvtfeGNH1mTOicxEfs76DwuINbUCxkTr3TMHNabRWrx-yfKytu4WOjS1ziBK8Nyh1L5YkQNhC3M7zoR77wgyNMo1ZNwK-loZ8yf1laArPYE8d3XxXUDT3aqaaNCrlBvmuBY/s640/DSC_1131.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once you get into the rhythm of the waves it's a very relaxing pattern to sit and work.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The colours together in this blanket look amazing all finished. It's been a joy to crochet this blanket during the cold and wet weather we've had. It's the first <a href="https://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/">Attic24 </a>blanket I've done but will definitely not be the last.<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
In fact it's feeling like a proper blanket on my legs now as I work on it! Best thing about making these blankets during the cold spells is that they keep me warm so I can work longer 😃</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;">I am so pleased with how this is turning out, once you get into the flow of the pattern it's so easy. Must admit I'm eyeing up the next one much to the kids disgust...apparently we have enough blankets now! Think if it turns cold again I'll turn the heating thermostat right down so they feel the cold and then ask if they'd like me to make another blanket 🤣🤣 I will get back to my stitching but when the kids go back to school and things have calmed down. </span></div>

I can't recommend The Wool Warehouse enough, never had bad service from them. This time whilst I was ordering my pc crashed, when it came back up the order said pending but nothing was in my basket. A quick phone call to the company and a lovely lady sorted it all out for me. A couple of days later and the postman was knocking on the door with my wool... 15 balls of wonderful soft wool all in a handy bag to store them and my WIP.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I did do a tension sample using a 5mm hook for my starting chain then swapping to a 4mm hook as it's the recommended one for this wool. (I use a 5mm most of the time but I was itching to use my new soft handled 4mm.) </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Unfortunately the photo really doesn't do the colours justice but it's my fault for taking it on my phone instead of going to get my camera. Just too impatient to get on with part 2! By the way the pins you can see at the bottom I put in whilst doing the beginning chain so that I didn't lose count, much easier that way when you're doing over 200 chains.</div>

After seeing some amazing wool on <a href="https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/" target="_blank">Wool Warehouse</a> I found a corner to corner blanket that I liked the look of and I thought would work well in the particular shades I'd chosen.<br />
<br />
The wool I chose is <a href="https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/yarn/stylecraft-batik-swirl-all-colours" target="_blank">Stylecraft Batik Swirl</a> in the Highland colours. I loved the blue and purple colours mixed. <img alt="Stylecraft Batik Swirl - Highland (3735) - 200g" height="426" src="https://media.woolwarehouse.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/330x220/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/s/t/st_276_3735_0.jpg" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; border-image: none; border: 0px; color: #313131; font-size: 11px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; height: 220px; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 8px 0px 0px; orphans: 2; padding: 0px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; vertical-align: top; white-space: normal; width: 330px; word-spacing: 0px;" title="Stylecraft Batik Swirl - Highland (3735) - 200g" width="640" /><br />
The pattern I used was free from the Yarn Inspirations website. Click <a href="https://www.yarnspirations.com/red-heart-crochet-corner-to-corner-throw/RHC0502-023640M.html" target="_blank">here</a> to get the pattern yourself. It's a very easy pattern to follow and once I got into the flow of crocheting it off I went. There is also a video if you prefer, just click <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5G9IM24LFU" target="_blank">here</a>. There are lots of videos showing you how to do the corner to corner but I've always used <a href="http://www.bellacoco.co.uk/tutorials" target="_blank">Bella Coco</a> as my go-to crochet tutorial when I've needed to.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I ordered 3 of the Highland Batik Swirl in the understanding that after 1.5 balls I'd then stop increasing and start decreasing. I was amazed how fast it grew...<br />

<br />
<br />
By the time I'd done the requisite 1.5 balls I was enjoying myself so much I decided to continue increasing and turn the blanket from a single size to a double. I used the 3 balls on the increase and ordered 3 more from Wool Warehouse to do the decrease. I am so pleased with the result! The whole blanket covered the top of our king sized bed, although it now lives on the back of the sofa so when it gets a bit nippy I snuggle under it when I'm reading or watching tv.<br />

That's another new blanket made and I'm going to work on my stitching for a couple of weeks until my new wool arrives. Yes I've been back to Wool Warehouse and ordered more wool, another blanket but this one is a bit different as it's an old crochet-along.Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04865313831122803898noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3994319713876415779.post-67344178930412666992019-11-07T13:28:00.003+00:002019-11-07T13:28:43.384+00:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I was sat bored one afternoon looking at some wool I'd found in the bottom of my wardrobe and decided I'd like to learn how to crochet. Now I've tried numerous times over the years and failed but that was before YouTube. I didn't want to learn how to do the fantastically detailed blankets but a simple granny square one for our daughter.<br />
<br />
A lot of video watching later (wow there are some horrendous tutorials out there!) and I finally found someone who made it all make sense to me. The name of the channel is <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQEzmjboJ_6-uG8-1j4coNw" target="_blank">Bella Coco</a> and after watching her tutorial on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npIsh-o9AM0&t=431s" target="_blank">granny squares</a> I picked up the wool and off I went. I did go wrong a few times on my first couple but before long I was whizzing along without the video and had completed my first 8...this was where it got interesting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-deCrbOCDqMU/XcQWGgu_gtI/AAAAAAAAEG0/1tDyWt13BKUme8xZCqexcwpD6haGDvIIACEwYBhgL/s1600/granny%2Bsquare.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="714" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-deCrbOCDqMU/XcQWGgu_gtI/AAAAAAAAEG0/1tDyWt13BKUme8xZCqexcwpD6haGDvIIACEwYBhgL/s320/granny%2Bsquare.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
<br />
My 11yr old daughter Darcy had been watching me playing around with some old pink wool and suddenly decided she wanted a blanket making out of these squares but she wanted the colour around a centre white square that had to be different. So a trip to the library to get a book on crocheting and I found a square that had a circle in the centre, after many many tries I figured it out and off I went on these squares. Meanwhile Darcy had found other colours she wanted so after buying the wool - a 100g ball of DK did all 8 of the granny squares with leftovers - I set about crocheting the squares. I'd got the hang of them so sat crocheting them at any time I could find including sat outside school waiting for the kids to come out!<br />
<br />
Once I'd done all 8 of the colour and a white centre I stitched them together to form a big square, then just double-crocheted a white border to tie in with the centre square.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vjHH7W36brA/XcQZoPjbljI/AAAAAAAAEG8/vHjp1vOXa3QYBpmxalkCghh9cw_DMoovACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG-20191102-WA0002.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vjHH7W36brA/XcQZoPjbljI/AAAAAAAAEG8/vHjp1vOXa3QYBpmxalkCghh9cw_DMoovACLcBGAsYHQ/s400/IMG-20191102-WA0002.jpeg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
When Darcy said there were enough she arranged the squares into which order she wanted the blanket putting together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zm3H-gotACI/XcQZs7AffpI/AAAAAAAAEHA/saIztySqHlgI5lHFODtGNOCkVSHXjPZ9ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG-20191106-WA0000.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zm3H-gotACI/XcQZs7AffpI/AAAAAAAAEHA/saIztySqHlgI5lHFODtGNOCkVSHXjPZ9ACLcBGAsYHQ/s400/IMG-20191106-WA0000.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last night whilst our boys were training at #dragonsacademyeckington I sat and put them together using the single crochet method from another one of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUGb9pIcsXE&t=221s" target="_blank">Bella Coco's videos.</a> I'd done all but one square by the time the boys had done so finished it at home whilst Darcy was in bed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This morning our daughter's face when she came downstairs to find her completed blanket was well worth all the time and effort learning to crochet. She loves her blanket 😀 </div>

Now I'm going to start working on my own, not a granny square one though. My mum bought me some wonderful wool from the Wool Warehouse and I'm going to try and crochet myself a blanket using a different method...wish me luck 🙏</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sometimes when you're working on a big project it feels like you hardly make any progress no matter how long you stitch for. I was feeling like that on my <a href="https://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=160_436_1648&products_id=12663&zenid=8c8c718df87bbb1bbc93ae21f4fe2c68" target="_blank">Once Upon a Time</a>, during the summer it felt like I'd stitched on it for hours but nothing looked any different. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">At the beginning of October I decided to take a photo of how it looked and then not take another one until the very end. The difference shocked me. I'm stitching this a bit differently to how I normally do. I bought some easy count 28ct fabric and am stitching 1 strand over 1. Now as the whole stitch area fits onto my scroll rods I decided to try out doing one colour at a time. I started with the colour with the least amount of stitches and then worked up. By the way I use my tablet and the app ezPDF reader pro to not only find the stitches but mark off where I've done. It's a lot easier on large projects and this is the first time I've gone solely to the app and not had a paper and pen back up, soo much easier. I'm now over halfway through the colours and the details that are emerging are well worth the confetti stitches. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've not been able to put needle to fabric so far in November as I've been working on another project. I think I'll carry on just taking a photo at the end of each month, it's such a rush to see the project come to life as you don't notice the same when you're actually working on it.</span></div>

The kids had done some amazing things and although the year started off badly when my father-in-law got rushed into hospital by the end we were looking up again. Although, I do hope for some much needed quiet times in 2019!<br />
<br />
Firstly here's a round up of my big finishes. There were a few smaller ones but I cannot find the photos (probably on my old phone!)<br />

As you can tell I'm a fan of Heaven and Earth Designs, hoping to have another finish in 2019 :-)<br />

Then we have the kids, Lumps finally got to black belt in Taekwondo in September. All three of them completed their Get Active Challenge in the Summer. We all had fabulous times at the coast this year, from the British Taekwondo training camp in Great Yarmouth in May to visiting Edinburgh in August during the Fringe and then down to Broadstairs in October to spend half term with my mother-in-law. Peter has moved into his last 2 years in seniors (eek where has the time gone?!) and finished his University of Sheffield mentoring program. Luke is happily settled into Y8 and Darcy is in her last year of junior school (so not ready for my baby to move to seniors!). Here are a few of my favourite photos from the year.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here's to another year of lots of stitching, walking and fun. Happy New Year to you all xxxx</div>

As much as I have loved this project I am so glad to finally put the last stitches in and cross it off my UFO pile.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've taken lots of photos of it all done, the beads haven't come up as clearly as they should but the great British weather being it's usual contrary self means today we have dull grey skies and rain, would you believe this time last week we were in a heatwave!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyway here is my version of Castles in the Air, now I've just got to save up to have it professionally framed and it's going to hang somewhere very prominent in the house.</div>

This is an easy stitch once you get into the rhythm, although it's a lot easier on evenweave rather than plain fabric for freestyle unless you've marked out the fabric beforehand.<br />
<br />
I decided as the wind has picked up a lot in the last few days that we'd have a windblown Sue holding hard to her hat (just like I was this morning!) The herringbone is a trim on her dress and couldn't resist adding a few french knots to her hat :-)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_7xRNDMfK18/Wng6zH59ziI/AAAAAAAAD_U/-LCGAfVZm-0I56vTCBC6fNDfPqiaTr-egCLcBGAs/s1600/20180205_105506.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_7xRNDMfK18/Wng6zH59ziI/AAAAAAAAD_U/-LCGAfVZm-0I56vTCBC6fNDfPqiaTr-egCLcBGAs/s400/20180205_105506.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
As well as Sue I've also started my stitch sampler project, not all the <a href="http://pintangle.com/tast-faq/" target="_blank">TAST</a> stitches will go on here but I'll definitely use it for some of them. I found a Six Strands Sweet thread called Ellies Raspberry Truffle in the bottom of my fabric drawer and thought the contrasting colours would look good for this stitch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Now for those of you who know me or have followed my blog for a while you'll know that this is definitely not one of my favourite stitches. It's not hard to do but I really don't like it 😣 it does make lovely flower petals and leaves though.<br />
<br />
So for Sunbonnet Sue this week she's holding a flower made of the detached chain, the centres are french knots (that I absolutely love doing!).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RSBHGjfI6_0/WmsVJ2L03LI/AAAAAAAAD-c/ALDGatgwd-sgoR2GgyHCzTvAqRn8NWShwCLcBGAs/s1600/20180126_113325.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RSBHGjfI6_0/WmsVJ2L03LI/AAAAAAAAD-c/ALDGatgwd-sgoR2GgyHCzTvAqRn8NWShwCLcBGAs/s640/20180126_113325.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>

This is a fun stitch and is amazing to use for leaves or just decorative.<br />
<br />
Once again I've stitched up a Sunbonnet Sue but this time have given her a little flower, the stem is fly stitch but also around the centre french knots and then the edges in a different shade using fly stitch. She's also got a little bit of it on her bonnet. I'm trying not to put too many different stitches into these Sunbonnet Sue's as each week the focus will be on the <a href="http://pintangle.com/tast-faq/" target="_blank">TAST</a> stitch so that eventually they'll look like a stitch sampler.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cEupshho2Tk/WmM0soRhE0I/AAAAAAAAD-I/8NZLVAj-B9YJIk4ZX1cIP_B94J08J5YJgCLcBGAs/s1600/20180119_164834.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cEupshho2Tk/WmM0soRhE0I/AAAAAAAAD-I/8NZLVAj-B9YJIk4ZX1cIP_B94J08J5YJgCLcBGAs/s640/20180119_164834.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
I've not used the stitch on my quilt square yet as Lukie was off school ill on Wednesday so I'm a day behind all my chores. Thankfully he felt a lot better on Thursday morning so went back to school (he hates being off) but then that evening I was back at school but for Boo's Mentoring meeting. I can't believe my baby Boo is choosing his options for his final 2 years in secondary, doesn't seem two minutes ago since I dropped him off on his first day of Infants :-( They're growing too quick, I'm not ready for it LOL!Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04865313831122803898noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3994319713876415779.post-64086665362481478282018-01-09T16:00:00.000+00:002018-01-09T16:00:01.534+00:00TAST 2018 - Week 2This weeks <a href="http://pintangle.com/tast-faq/" target="_blank">TAST</a> stitch is the Buttonhole. Sharon has a great page on how to work this wonderful stitch just click <a href="http://pintangle.com/2012/01/09/take-a-stitch-tuesday-week-2-2/" target="_blank">here</a>. <br />
<br />
I'm sure a lot of us have used buttonhole for many things over the years. It was one of the first stitches I learnt as a child making a table runner on 11ct Binca fabric aged 7 using wool. Nowadays I use it a lot to stop fraying on the edges of fabric and as a cute stitch for some of the quilt squares. It's great as grass on samplers as you can vary the length easily whilst still having the ground.<br />
<br />
Here's what I've done with my buttonhole this week:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nMcvZnOjvqM/WlTmX72pdgI/AAAAAAAAD9I/lMHq95xA-T0IdwoagHOQQznlszvOaiBaACLcBGAs/s1600/TAST%2BWeek%2B2%2BSunbonnet%2BSue.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nMcvZnOjvqM/WlTmX72pdgI/AAAAAAAAD9I/lMHq95xA-T0IdwoagHOQQznlszvOaiBaACLcBGAs/s320/TAST%2BWeek%2B2%2BSunbonnet%2BSue.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sunbonnet Sue is back but with a buttonhole ribbon on her bonnet and apron.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AXoc0VsOpMk/WlTmXzUyYII/AAAAAAAAD9E/I_8PIb8d8J4fe5_TGBSU3ROw2csq_yDrACLcBGAs/s1600/TAST%2BWeek%2B2%2BCrazy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="911" data-original-width="1600" height="182" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AXoc0VsOpMk/WlTmXzUyYII/AAAAAAAAD9E/I_8PIb8d8J4fe5_TGBSU3ROw2csq_yDrACLcBGAs/s320/TAST%2BWeek%2B2%2BCrazy.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I've used the stitch to hold down the bottom of the ribbon from last weeks stitch and also using 2 shades of brown to form the bottom of a muddy field.</div>

Week 1 is Running Stitch. As I'm also trying to complete a couple of my quilted bits to finally do something with them I thought I'd use them as practice pieces as well as do a series of Sunbonnet Sue squares with all the stitches.<br />
<br />
So here are my two pieces for week 1.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really enjoy the TAST pieces of work as not only do I actually get a finish but it gives me a change from my regular stitching. </div>

If you fancy having a go yourself then head over to Sharon's page and take a look. Just click on TAST at the top of the page and it'll take you there.</div>
